Symposium Kick-Off Event!
Rope bowls
In this workshop I’ll show you how to make cord bowls. The technique is simple and the possibilities are endless. Using this basic method you can make baskets, coasters, plate chargers, hot mats, table runners, rugs and bags. We will cover a simple bowl, using yarn in your bowl, decorate with fabric and a special effect. All you need is some cotton cord and a basic sewing machine

- Embellishing with beads
- Explore with different stitching techniques

Make a pet with textile and Paverpol
In this class, I'll show you how to make a sweet little poodle using wire, foil, masking tape and some Paverpol products. I'll show how to shape the body, the products sued to make the smooth parts and the technique for making all the floof. Join me, this is going to be fun.
As a bonus, I'll show you how to make an adorable little Scottish terrier. What could be more fun than that?

Making fabric from crumbs and scraps
This class is about creating luxurius fabric using tiny crumbs and scrap pieces. You will find out that nothing is useless and even the smaller pieces of fabric, cords, yarns, laces and so on, can be used to create fabulus new fabrics. Glass beads and other decorative materials are also present. Bonus video for those who will purchase the event will show you that just yarns, wool, lace, cords, ribbons etc can also create beautiful fabrics!

How to make and sculpt a faux fur teddy bear
In this workshop I will demonstrate how to make and sculpt a teddy bear. I will focus on the needle sculpting of the face, the scissor sculpting of the fur around the nose. I would like to include the correct technique of cutting fur, which stitches work best for each part of the bear and some helpful hints I've come across when making bears.

Moongazing 3D hare on a hoop
We will be using original artwork created especially for us by Katrina Jane Art to make our very own unique moon gazing hares.
We will needle felt onto flat felt but make the head of the hare 3D so that we can then needle felt it all together making a beautiful picture. We will frame it in a 7" embroidery hoop so that you can hang it up for all to enjoy and admire.

In this second Shibori course on Curious Mondo, we’ll learn how to dye our own exclusive fabrics to create exclusive patchwork blocks. These will be ideal for quilts making them very unique and beautiful.

Japanese Rice Bag
Explore creative ways to incorporate different crafts into a decorative and functional drawstring sack based on a traditional Japanese Rice Bag. Carolyn Chen will demonstrate construction of a basic bag on a sewing machine. She’ll also teach methods of adding pockets. She doesn’t stop there! She’ll share tips on constructing bags made from materials and techniques taught by fellow Curious Mondo instructors. This is a great project for using crafting samples, experiments and surface embellishments. In addition to garment and upholstery fabrics, the class has bags made from loom projects (rigid heddle and pin looms), kumihimo Braids, and quilt blocks.

We will be learning how to spin feathers into your yarn. Feathers are a great add ins and make a wonderful yarn. Feathers come in so many colors and shapes , you can buy them or collect them when you walk and travel. I have 3 chickens and I save their feathers to make great yarn.

We are going to create a necklace with silk cocoons, yarn and beads. Our workshop consists of 3 stages
- Preparation of the cord, which is the base of our necklace
- Decorations: shaping flowers and making additional decorative elements
- Assembly: putting it all together and finalize our necklace, thus creating a beautiful and colorful composition to wear.
